Applying Cloud Computing technology is not as difficult as
you imagine. Like I mentioned in the previous blogs, Cloud Computing is not a
brand new technology, but rather a concept that we have long been accustomed
to. In this post and the next post, I will introduce how you can easily get on
the Cloud with Google. The applications that Google offer are perfect for
small/ individual companies since most of these are free.
Gmail
Unlike traditional Microsoft Outlook emails where you can
only have access from certain authorized computers, the Gmail simply asked you
for your username and password to access your mailbox. No matter where and
which device you log in, your every move will be saved on the Cloud and made
available to you at later dates. This provides the convenience of access
without any kind of limitation. Besides convenience, the Gmail provides 25 GB
of free storage which guarantees that you never have to worry about running out
of space. What differentiates Gmail most from other email providers is its
ability to combine messaging (Google Chat) and social platform (Google Plus) to
your inbox. Using Gmail will allow instant access to your colleagues and all
your historic emails anywhere anytime.
Calendar
Traditionally you would need a calendar notebook to keep
track of your upcoming schedule. With the help of Google calendar, you only
have to type in your schedule and it will be synced with your smart phone and
everyone you wish to share your schedule with. Google Calendar can even provide
reminders by sending your notifications if you want it to. This is extremely
important in the business world today as information needs to be shared
instantly and you can’t afford to waste time communicating over excessive
matters. When scheduling meeting, you can not only share your schedule with
colleagues but also attach files and documents to the event so that everyone
will have easy access.
